Gosh I love these two! They have one of the best stories!
They’ve had a crush on each other since elementary school!! How crazy is that?! Cody transferred schools in fourth grade, and he noticed Amy right away. Over the next few years they got closer and closer as friends, started sitting by each other in every class, instant messaging each other till 3am! Then in high school Cody was the captain of the basketball team and Amy was the captain of the cheerleading squad, talk about the perfect high school set up! Their junior year they went on a double date and afterwards when they were walking on the beach Cody got down on one knee and asked her to be his girlfriend! Fast forward 8 years later, and Cody got back down on one knee and asked her to marry him! Their story seems like it’s straight out of a book, and when you meet them you know their love for each other is genuine and inspiring!
James and I were so excited to photograph the Cody’s surprise proposal to Amy a few months back, and we had an amazing time photographing their engagement session last weekend! Since the proposal was on a rooftop in downtown LA (dreamy, I know) we decided to do something entirely different for the engagement session! We headed up the mountain to Knapp’s Castle and it was incredible! The light was golden and gorgeous! While we were shooting a group of 30-40 people arrived so we had a bit of challenge shooting around them, but Cody and Amy were great and we successfully avoided the group and got some breath taking images! Enjoy!
These two are the cutest! They are fun, playful, and hilarious! They made me and James laugh over and over again during the shoot! We had a blast photographing them, and we loved watching them interact, and it is so clear that they’re in love, and they are perfect for each other!! The way they love each other is honest, beautiful, and rare, and we are so excited for them to tie the knot!!
Justin and Nina are awesome! They have a playful love for each other, and James and I had such an amazing time photographing them! As you can see, they’re a good looking couple! Justin has an amazing mustache and Nina is absolutely stunning, and when they stood next to each other my creative mind was in heaven! We had a great time adventuring through trees as the sun set behind us! I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in the fall!
Tim and Jen have a great story of how hey ended up in Santa Barbara. They both lived in Washington DC and Tim was offered a job out in Santa Barbara. He decided to take the job and move to paradise, and he really wanted Jen to move out there with him!! Jen said the only way she would move cross country was if she had a job or an engagement ring….
Well…it wasn’t long before she visited Tim and they went kayaking out off the pier, and he proposed while they were kayaking!!! He even tied the ring to fishing line just in case it slipped. (such a smart move Tim!!)
After the proposal Jen packed up and moved out here to beautiful Santa Barbara and started planning the wedding!
We had such a fun time on the engagement session and we did it right by where Tim proposed! Such a fun shoot, with perfect sunshine and another beautiful winter day in paradise!
Words cannot express how much I love these two. They are prefect for each other in every way. Kelly is absolutely stunning from the inside out, she’s an outrageous dancer, a true fashionista, and one of the greatest friends I will ever have! When Brian started coming around I knew there was something special about him, because he was the only man I’ve ever known who could out-quote Kelly on SNL and Kristin Wiig impressions! And to top it off he’s handsome, hilarious and a Fire Fighter! Yes please! Talk about a match made in heaven! Plus the story of how Brian pursued Kelly is mind blowing! He knew exactly what he wanted and he would stop at nothing! They were dating long distance for a year, and Brian bought the ring before Kelly even moved out there! He held onto it for months for 3 months before he proposed, and somehow Kelly’s family kept it a secret from her the entire time! When he did propose, before he pulled out the ring, he pulled out a framed dried flower that he had kept since sophmore year when he asked Kelly to a dance. He said he watched the flower fall out of her hair and he picked it up and kept it in his journal until he was ready to propose! Talk about romantic and thoughtful! It gets me teary eyed every time I think about it! Kelly you’ve got yourself a good one, and Brian is so lucky to have you too! I couldn’t be happier for these two and I am SO excited to photograph their wedding this summer! I already know I am going to cry tears of joy during the ceremony, and I know the dance floor is going to be epic!
Every time I’ve done a photoshoot with Kelly (senior portrait, family, etc.) we always take a few together. So we had to keep with tradition.
The top right is definitely my favorite:
